World War II information collection, 1942-1951 (bulk 1942-1945)

This collection contains publications, brochures, newsletters, subject files, press releases, speeches, news-clippings, posters, maps, and "Newsmaps" detailing the events of World War II. The bulk of the subject file material pertains to governments in exile, and their fight against the Nazis. Well represented among these are Belgium, Czechoslovakia, and Poland. In addition, the subject files also contain ration books and South Carolina war-related information. A short correspondence from William Jennings Bryan Dorn has been preserved also.

South Carolina politician; served in the General Assembly, 1939-1940, represented the state's Third District in Congress, 1948-1974, twice ran for Governor, 1974 and 1978, and served as Chairman of the South Carolina Democratic Party, 1980-1984.
